Just before his ascension, Jesus said: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Jesus teaches that all people are his sheep, that everyone is our neighbor, and that we are to love as Jesus loved us. Journey UMC is intentionally multicultural because everyone, every ethnic group, every race, every person, is loved by God and we are called to continue Jesus's work, sharing the message of God's love.
We are inspired by the vision of Revelation 7:9-10: After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
Accordingly, we invite all our brothers and sisters, from all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups to join us on this journey through life with Jesus so we can help each other, grow, and be faithful followers of Jesus. In this we are inspired by the words of 1 Corinthians: “Perhaps I will stay with you a while . . . so you can help me on my journey, wherever I may go.” 1 Cor. 16:6 (NIV)
