samoan ministry
Our Samoan community worships every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Service is located at Journey United Methodist Church. The first Sunday of each month we join our English brothers and sisters in worship to celebrate fellowship and communion.
Currently, we have about 60 members from infant to adult. We are the only Samoan speaking group in our Desert Southwest Conference. Our goal is to help grow that community.
A number of our youth and young adults speak both languages Samoan and English. You will find youth activities ranging in ages 12 to 35. Our goal this year is to have youth and young adult programs to help them grow and learn God's ability through workshops. Outreach programs to allow for fellowship and enjoy learning. To provide an open environment to learn the tradition in our culture of attending church learning about God which they can pass down to their children.
During the last Sunday of the month, we try to have our youth do the service by preparing the songs and even skits related to the message being given by another youth.
Second Sunday in October we celebrate White Sunday all the children dress in white and they go up as a family to share a memory verse and song.
Our community joins our English brothers and sisters with a number of social activities within the local community. Ronald McDonald's House cooking breakfast for the families. We have fed homeless also participated in Box City with a local Lutheran Church.
We are reaching out through phone to our congregation with prayer and during our prayer meetings on Saturday as families.
