Focus Scripture: James 5:13-16
Prayers are extremely powerful. About a year ago, our church entered into a season of prayer where members were asked to pray for the church with a prayer partner every day for a month. We saw amazing things happen--including finding new worship space that was our home for a year.
Another time, a man came to our church and he was scared. He was facing open heart surgery. He asked for prayer and not only did we pray for him, we laid on hands and anointed him. His fears were calmed, his surgery went well, and he says the anointing did more for him than the surgeries ever did.
Prayer is amazingly powerful. It may even be the most powerful thing we can do for each other in the church. And yet, we so often forget to turn to prayer. Type up these verses. Tape them to a mirror, or put them on the refrigerator or somewhere you might see them as a reminder that when life feels overwhelming to turn to prayer. Not just private prayer, but corporate prayer with others in the church.
