Focus Scripture: Hebrews 5:11-12
It must have been frustrating. They should have been mature Christians by now. But they weren't. Worse yet, they didn't want to be. "You no longer try to understand."
We see that happen too. People get stuck in their faith and they don't want to grow. They don't want to open their minds. They don't want to find out that there is more to learn. What we teach children, or even a new adult Christian's understanding is not all that there is to know about God. And sometimes that means that what we understand as a baby Christian will turn out to be wrong. But if we refuse to learn anything new or to grow in our understanding, or rethink our understanding, then we will be like the people referred to in Hebrews: "no longer try[ing] to understand."
We have to be willing to question and challenge our own beliefs as the Spirit shows us greater wisdom.
